2011 marked the 100th year for Dothan High School. Through this century, five generations of our citizens – tens of thousands of us – have pored over text books, wrestled with math problems, written term papers and played on the athletic fields at the school. The graduates of DHS have proven to be a great investment. They planned our city, developed our neighborhoods, supported our cultural events, and launched businesses that kept Dothan vibrant and prosperous. The historic Art Deco high school building itself stands out as the city’s most iconic and recognizable architectural landmark, a classic design from a bygone era that holds its beauty still. Dothan High School reminds us simultaneously of our shared past and of the unique promise that education holds for creating better lives and enduring values for the future.
On Thursday, April 26, 2012, the accomplishments and heritage of Dothan High School were honored with a Centennial Birthday Celebration. We joined at the Dothan Civic Center with alumni and friends for the biggest birthday party Dothan has ever seen.
It was a nigh of celebration and remembrance. Generations of DHS Alumni came together to talk about what once was and what will be. The DHS traditions continue and the Tiger Pride still rages on. In the words of our Alma Mater:
May these walls we love and cherish Never crumble or decline, But stand forever stable A landmark to all mankind.
It is our hope that you will always hold a special place in your heart for Dothan High School. We hope you will continue to support the generations of Tigers that will follow in our footsteps. We are DOTHAN!............................GO TIGERS!!!!
